Ethel Wargo, age 96, of Chardon, died Nov. 30, 2010. She was born June 27, 1914, in Bradley, Ohio. Ethel lived in Chardon for the past five years and had previously lived in Mentor since 1958. Mrs. Wargo had formerly worked for The News-Herald in the classified department. She had also been a reporter with them. She then worked for the Trader Newspaper in Solon until her retirement in 1974. Ethel and her husband, John, celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary on November 15th. He preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 2010. Ethel had been a member of Mentor Baptist Church, the Kirtland Grange, and volunteered at the voting polls for many years. She belonged to the Colonial Crafters of Kirtland and loved sewing. She was an exceptional cook of Hungarian cuisine. Ethel’s family was an important priority and she enjoyed the time spent with them. Survivors are her sons, John (Janet) Wargo of Chardon, and Dr. William Wargo of Alligator Point, Fla.; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; Godson, Janos (Donna) Medgesy; and sisters, Ruth Jones and Betty Robinson. In addition to her husband, John, she was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen (Nemeth) Czako; four brothers and three sisters. Private services will be held. Burial will be at Chardon Municipal Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are by The Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Chardon.
