Ethel Hill Root, age 92, of Chardon, died Oct. 8, 2010, at Chardon Healthcare.She was born August 19, 1918, in Floresville, Texas.Mrs. Root was a loving mother and devoted homemaker. Ethel married Ted R. Root on April 17, 1948.She spent most of her life in Geauga County and was a 1939 graduate of Chardon High School. During World War II, as part of the Greatest Generation, she worked at Thompson Aircraft Products Company in Euclid.Survivors are her daughters, Victoria M. Hess of Chardon, and Chelsea R. Renner of Akron; grandchildren, Laura R. Fowler of Hambden, and Cydny and Cassandra Renner, both of Tallmadge; great-grandchildren, Orion D. Sayre and Nadia S.K. Cox, both of Hambden; and sister, Jean (Wayne) Ishee of Burton.She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted R. Root; parents, Harry and Vesta (Murray) Hill; brothers, Charles, Harry, and Clarence Hill; and sisters, Vivian Trask and Frieda Burr.A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, October 16, at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (on State Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon.Visitation will be Saturday, October 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
