Ernest “Ernie” L. Hall, 98, of Hambden Township, passed away Dec. 24, 2010, at Metro General Hospital in Cleveland.Born Oct. 14, 1912, in Mt. Vernon, he had been an area resident since 1943.Mr. Hall worked as farm manager for Kaufman Farms in Auburn Township for 25 years. After his retirement, he worked for Lake Metro Parks for 12 years, retiring again in 2004.He was a member of numerous farm bureaus, Holstein Association and Soil Conservation. After retirement, he enjoyed raising and showing Belgian Draft horses. He showed Holsteins and later Draft horses for a total of 63 years at the Great Geauga County Fair.Survivors are his daughter, Barbara (Ronald) Vopicka of Euclid; sons, R. Tom Hall of Akron and Dwight E. (Christie) Hall of Newbury; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Simms of Mt. Vernon; brother, Robert F. Hall Jr. of Quincy, Mich.; and the caregiver for eight years of both Eva and Ernie, Madeline Lette of Hambden Township.He married Eva V. Blair Feb. 19, 1931, in Wheeling, W.Va. She preceded him in death Jan. 11, 2005. His sister, Beverly McElravy; sons, Ernest Lee Hall Jr. and Gerald Henry Hall; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren, are also deceased.Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon. Pastor Aaron Taylor of Painesville Assembly of God Church will officiate.Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at the funeral home.
