Elisabeth Kish Panec, 92, of Copley, died March 13, 2011, at Lorantffy Care Center in Copley.She was born Sept. 17, 1918, in Cleveland.Elisabeth was a registered nurse and worked as head nurse and clinical instructor at the former St. Luke’s Hospital in Cleveland. She was a graduate of the former Cleveland General and St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing.Elisabeth Kish married Henry R. Panec April 10, 1949, in Cleveland. He preceded her in death in 1970.She was a member of the Garfield Memorial United Methodist Church of Pepper Pike, and had attended the First Hungarian Reform Church in Walton Hills. She was a 1937 graduate of the old Central High School in Cleveland, where she was valedictorian of her class. She was also a lifelong member of Mensa International, life member of the Nursing School Alumni Association, member of Gold Star Wives of America and V.F.W. Chapter 1863 Auxiliary in Solon, a volunteer at the Orange Senior Center, had also volunteered for the Red Cross Bloodmobile, and had been a proud member of AA, since March 11, 1972. She also earned her private pilot’s license. Survivors are her six nieces; one nephew and their families.She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry R. Panec; parents, Joseph and Klara (nee Iglai) Kish; sisters, Ella C. Kish and Eleanor Hrezik; and one brother, John Kish.Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon. The Rev. Loren L. Gisselbeck of the Garfield Memorial United Methodist Church will officiate.Friends may call from noon until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
