Mrs. Blake died May 24, 2010, at UH Geauga Medical Center in Claridon Township.She was born Oct. 1, 1911, in Appleton, Wis. and lived in Euclid 72 years before moving to Geauga County four years ago.Mrs. Blake volunteered at the library at Euclid Villa Senior Center for 17 years. She was an avid reader, and especially was fond of murder mysteries. She enjoyed making ceramics, mainly Christmas items. She and her close friends prayed the Rosary at someone’s apartment every Monday evening for 17 years.She worked for F.W. Woolworth’s in retail sales for 20 years, retiring in 1974.Survivors are her sons, Francis “Frank ” (Joan) Blake of Virginia and Arthur (Gloria) Blake of Mansfield; daughter, Barbara (Al) Stuart of Hambden Township; grandchildren, Sheila (Warren) Lyons of Hershey, Pa., Steven Blake of Virginia, Dawn (John) Meyers of Maryland, Shawn (Tim) Voeltz of Virginia, Allison Blake of Mansfield, Sharon Stuart of Chardon, Susan (Adam) Hollobaugh of Claridon Township and Penny (Andrew) Ragon of Uniontown; great-grandchildren, Celeste, Shawna, Beth, Aidan, Finninan, Joshua, Brittany and Bethany.She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank M. Blake, whom she married on Feb. 2, 1932, and who passed away in 1973; son, John Blake; grandson, Scott Blake; parents, John and Sarah (nee Flanagan) Gibson; brother, John Gibson; and sisters, Mildred Gibson, Dorothy Rauer and Margaret Frederick.Services: Mass of Christian Burial for Eleanor G. Blake (nee Gibson), 98, of Hambden Township, will be 9 a.m. Friday, May 28, at The Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon. The Rev. Timothy Kalista of the church will officiate.Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (on Route 44, 500 ft. south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon.
