Mrs. Savage was born in the Tremont area of Cleveland, OH, on June 20, 1910. She moved to Chardon in 1925, living with the William and Genevieve Sked family.Mrs. Savage organized and ran her own nursery school for many years, before working with the Chardon schools as a Kindergarten Teachers Aide at both Fowler’s Mill and Maple Elementary Schools; She also had worked at the Title Office of the Geauga Co. Clerk of CourtsDorothy Mc Ilvaine married Robert A. Savage in Mercer, Pennsylvania, February 9, 1933. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1982.A graduate of Chardon High School, Class of 1929, she had been active in the theatrical productions at the school, and continued that interest with the Geauga Lyric Theatre Guild.She was a very active member of the Pilgrim Christian Church in Chardon, OH, where she had served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Choir member and was active with the Women’s Fellowship, helping behind the scenes with church dinners and any other activity where her help was needed.Mrs. Savage was a charter member of the former “Belles and Beaux” a “vintage” style vocal group, that sang and performed at the Geauga County Maple Festival and other area events.Mrs. Savage was one of the first volunteers for the Geauga Community Hospital Auxiliary (Currently the Geauga Medical Center), Starting in 1959, and retiring with over 7000 hours. She also had volunteered for Heather Hill and the Geauga Senior Center.She had been a member of the Progress Research Club in ChardonShe was a member, Organist and also served as Worthy Matron of the former Ruby Chapter #4, Order of Eastern Star (Now Clover Chapter # 201 in Burton, OH)Mrs. Savage was also 1st runner up in the first Geauga County Maple Festival Queen Pageant.Mrs. Savage touched the lives of family and everyone she met.Survivors include: 2 Daughters: Roberta A. (Walt) Brzozowski of Anaheim Hills, California, and Mary Beth (David) Smith of Montville Twp., OH2 Sons: Lester S. (Sandra) Savage of Beaverton, Oregon and Dr. Jack W.
