Dorothy M. MacNeal age 93 of Winterberry Ln, Chardon, OH died on July 16, 2011 at Chardon Healthcare and Rehab Cntr surrounded by her family. She was born on August 6, 1917 in East Cleveland and has been a resident of Munson Twp. for the past 34 years.Dorothy was a secretary for the civil aeronautic administration during WWII at Hopkins Airport. She was also a secretary for East Cleveland School District as well as, Director of Personnel for 23 years, retiring in 1983. Dorothy served for over 10 years as a trustee and secretary on the Geauga County Senior Advisory Board after her retirement. She loved playing the piano, writing music arrangements and attending concerts. She started her all girl dance band, The Dot Lewis’ MeLodiers, in Shaw High School. She enjoyed reading and crocheting “Granny Squares. ” An avid golfer, she was a member and officer for many years with the Chardon Lakes Ladies 9-Hole League. She traveled over a dozen times to Ireland and Scotland playing on many major golf courses until age 84. She was a longtime supporter of the USO, Geauga Humane Society, and Geauga County Dog Warden.Survivors include her sons, Jack C. MacNeal of Munson and Gerry Jon MacNeal of Parma Heights; daughter, Marjorie MacNeal of MunsonShe is preceded in death by her husband, Clair O. MacNeal; parents, Claude James and Lucile M.
