Doris J. (Sampson) Rago, 81, of Middlefield, a homemaker, passed away Jan. 17, 2010, at her home in Middlefield.Born Feb. 4, 1928, in Chardon, she had been a lifelong Geauga County resident.When her children were young, Mrs. Rago served as a Cub Scout den mother. She was a wonderful cook and everyone loved her specialty, cherry dessert. Mrs. Rago enjoyed personalizing holiday and birthday cards, spending time with her family and every year she organized the family reunion. She liked to go to church bag day rummage sales and auctions. Mrs. Rago also liked spending time outside reading the newspaper, enjoying the flower gardens.Survivors are her daughter, Diana J. Hilger, formerly of Middlefield and currently of Loudonville; sons, William L. (Cheryl) Rago of Lago Vista, Texas and Danny C. Rago of Hartsgrove Township; grandchildren, Dennis (Jeannie) Jacobs, Denise (Ken) Weisbarth, Kelly (Christopher) Campasano, David (Evelyn Reed) Jacobs, Richard (Jennifer) Rago, Christine Rago, Raymond (Kristiana) Hilger and Kevin Hilger; great-grandchildren, Chad and Ryan Weisbarth, Megan and Mason Jacobs, Madison Hilger, Nicholas Rago and Chiaro and Sophia Campasano; sisters, Jane Roush of Leroy Township, Faye (Lloyd) Burnett of Middlefield, Shirley McDonell of Deerfield Beach, Fla., Donna Pinzone of Boca Raton, Fla., and Carline Troutman of Middlefield; and brother, Frank (Jane) Sampson of Madison.She was preceded in death parents, Carl E. and Christine (Ryant) Sampson; sisters, Joanne Woodall and Ruth Burnett; brother, Robert Sampson; and former husband, Louis P. Rago.Burial will be in Hartsgrove Cemetery in Hartsgrove Township.
