“Together Again”Doraine Whiting, 76, of Chester Township, earned her wings Aug. 14, 2010, after a long and courageous battle following two major strokes.Born Feb. 11, 1934, in Howesville, W.Va, she was a resident of Ohio since 1953.She passed away at Hillcrest Hospital.Doraine was a very good cook and waitress. She loved people and worked at the Towne House Restaurant in Chester Township for 31 years. She then worked at the Lake Farm Park cafeteria for a short time.Doraine Pratt married Clyde Whiting Oct. 30, 1955. He preceded her in death Oct. 31, 2005, one day after their 50th anniversary.Doraine was a strong person and very positive. She was a good listener who always had good wisdom. She was very thoughtful and generous. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, and working puzzles. She was a member of Chardon Assembly of God.Survivors include her children, Diane Whiting of Chester Township and Rodney (Debbie) Whiting of Hiram; three grandchildren, Shawn, Amanda, and Tiffany; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn (Paul) Shaffer of Dale City, Va. and Roberta (Jim) Peacock of Lovettsville, Va.; brothers, Eugene (Anne) Pratt of Kingwood, W.Va., Terrance (Jackie) Pratt of Newburg, W.Va., Homer Jr. (Eppie) of Arthurdale, W.Va.; and David (Sheila) Pratt of Gladesville, W.Va.; sisters-in-law, Mildred Pratt of Lucketts, Va. and Patty Pratt of Mantua.She was preceded in death by h er husband, Clyde S. Whiting; parents, Homer and Genevieve Pratt; brothers, James, Roy and Ralph; and daughter-in-law, Julie Whiting.Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (on State Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon. Pastor Mullet of Chardon Assembly of God will officiate.Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
