DeWayne L. “Bud” Martin, 80, of Chardon Township, passed away Dec. 5, 2010, at Blossom Hill Care Center in Huntsburg Township. Born Oct. 26, 1930, in Jefferson, he was a resident of Concord Township before moving to Chardon six years ago. After graduating from Kent State University, Mr. Martin worked for Cleveland Electronics and then established Martin Sound Products Inc. in Highland Heights, where he worked until his retirement in 1995. DeWayne L. Martin married Frances A. Huss Oct. 5, 1963, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights, where he had been a longtime member. Mr. Martin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953, during the Korean War. Bud was a devoted and cherished husband, father, and grandfather, who enjoyed the arts, cooking, and long walks. Survivors are his wife, Frances A. Martin of Chardon; children, Shelley (Benjamin Mordush) Martin of Painesville, Christopher (Pamela) Martin of Munson Township, and Elaine (Mark) Mills of Garrettsville; grandchildren, Ryan, Henry, William, Abigail, Grace and Faith; and brothers, James Martin of Chicago and John Martin of Bellvue, Neb. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Alice (nee Isaacson) Martin; and siblings, Frances Holzheimer, Dorothy Martin, Eleanor Corbet, Marianne Owsley, Mildred Irby, Jean Childs, Edna May Martin, June Martin and George Martin. Memorial services will be held 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (Route 44, 500feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service. A private family burial will be held.
