David Alan Chapek, age 67 of Thompson, surrounded by family and friends went to be home with the Lord on May 9, 2023. He was born August 21, 1955, in Chardon, OH and married Linda Rife, the love of his life, 46 years ago. David was an avid bowler and fisherman and enjoyed watching the birds at his home. He attended The First United Methodist Church of East Claridon.

He is survived by his son Jason Chapek of Solon; grandsons, Charles, Collin, Carter Chapek of Solon; brother, Robert (Susan) Chapek of Thompson; sisters Nancy Hawley of Thompson, Jill (Larry Morse) Chapek of Thompson, and Chris (Melanie Sanders) Chapek of Geneva; sister-in-law Sarah Chapek of Trumbull Twp; mother-in-law Brenda Rife and brother-in-law, Mark Rife both of Hambden; nieces, Amanda Rife of Hambden, Emmy (Ryan) Chapek Beeson of Findlay, Tami Chapek of Columbus, Hillary (Craig) Layman of Thompson; nephews, Cameron (Lindsey) Morse of Montville and Todd (Dani) Morse of Knoxville, TN., great nephews Oliver and Case Layman of Thompson; and friend, Jamie Joseph of Solon, OH.

David is preceded in death by his wife, Linda; son, Jeremy; his parents, Charles and Florence; brother, William Chapek; father-in-law, Marvin Rife; brother-in-law, Clifton Rife and niece, Kelly Hawley.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 15, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, Chardon, Ohio 44024, with funeral services to immediately follow.

Pastor Karen Cico will officiate services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to Penitentiary Glen, 8668 Kirtland Chardon Rd., Kirtland, Ohio 44094. Arrangements made by the Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chardon, OH.
