Charles L. Lape, 79 of Madison,passed away at the Ashtabula Medical Center in Ashtabula, on March 20, 2005.Mr. Lape was born October 7, 1925, in Somerset, Pennsylvania. He had lived in Ravenna from 1950 until moving to Madison 15 years ago. He was a welder/fabricator for Pace Engineering in Willoughby for 14 years, retiring in July, 1990. He had previously worked at Sta-Warm Electric in Ravenna for 20 years. Mr. Lape was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during WWII. He was a former memeber of Lodge F. & A.M. and the VFW, both in Somerset, PA. He enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles and was a Cleveland sports fan.Survivors include his wife, Lee Ann (nee: Burwell) whom he married in the Church of Christ, Chardon, on July 15, 1974; son, Charles (Lisa) Lape of Parkland, FL; step daughters, Sandra (Jim) Krejci of Madison, OH, and Vicki (Bill) Niederst of Mentor, OH; step grandchildren, Jim, Kevin (Cristy) and Keith Krejci, Sean & Nicole Niederst, and step great grandchild, Benjamin Krejci. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Rhoda (nee: Welch) Lape.
