Charles Edward “Ed ” Maphis, Jr., age 67, of Leroy Twp., OH was born March 4, 1943 in Butler, PA. He lived in Butler, PA before moving to Leroy Twp. 40 years ago. He passed away February 12, 2011 in his home in Leroy Twp., OH. Mr. Maphis was a Motor Winder for Lincoln Electric for 42 years. He then was a Salesperson at Dodd Camera in Mayfield. Charles Edward Maphis married Joyce Lee Phipps in Butler, PA. Mr. Maphis was an avid Photographer, whose passion was taking pictures of and for all his friends and family. He is survived by his wife: Joyce Lee (nee: Phipps) Maphis of Leroy Twp., OH; sons: Charles Edward Maphis, III of Leroy Twp., OH; Matthew John (Jessica Nicole) Maphis of Atlanta, GA; and David Paul Maphis of Chardon, OH.He is preceded in death by his parents: Charles Edward and Esther Lucille (nee: Condon) Maphis, Sr.; and brother: John Maphis.The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, (On St. Rt. 44, 500′ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH.
