Carol A. Brace age 73 of Montville was born on May 31, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio and lived in Montville for the past 51 years. She died July 25, 2011 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.Carol married Jim on July 23, 1960 in Painesville and had just celebrated 51 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling with her husband, and was an avid bowler for over 30 years. When she wasn’t mowing her yard, she was out walking her dog, Duke. She also enjoyed listening to Elvis. Throughout the years, she volunteered at The Chardon Senior Center, Montville Ladies Aid, Election Poles in Montville, and had also helped with her children’s school activities.Survivors include her husband, Jim Brace of Montville; children, Judi (Paul) Maloney of Claridon, Jim (Dawn) Brace of Montville, and JoAnna Brace of Montville; grandchildren, Kristi, Stormi, Pat, Emma, Rachel, Ed, Jon, D.J., and Michael; sisters, Jane Carlton of Painesville, Twin, Nancy (Chuck) Parker of Painesville, Ruth (Dave) Goundrey of Mount Belvieu, TX; brothers, Jim (Gail) Hayer of Painesville and Tom (Patti) Hayer of Columbus and many nieces and nephews She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ada HayerFuneral Service will be Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, (St. Rt. 44, 500′ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square), Chardon. Visitation will be on Friday, July 29, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Montville Cemetery.

Our first memory of Carol was when we first moved next door in 1976. We had just moved into the country from Chardon and it was kind of lonely. Nancy was feeling down. Suddenly, Carol came down with her kids and a plate of chocolate chip cookies to welcome us into the neighborhood. She was friendly and immediately made us feel welcome and cheered us up.The Brace family have always been great neighbors and would do anything for us through the years. We will greatly miss seeing Carol mowing the lawn, exchanging veggies from the garden, and talking. God bless!
