Bruce B. Abe, 65, of Claridon Township and longtime area resident, passed away March 18, 2010, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland.He was born Nov. 19, 1944, in East Cleveland.Mr. Abe served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam with the 4th Infantry Division. Bruce graduated from Mayfield High School and then attended Cleveland Engineering. He worked for Pyronics and Lincoln Electric prior to serving two years in the Army. Bruce returned home and worked for North American Manufacturing for 38 years as a combustion sales engineer and controls specialist. Three of those years, he worked in the St. Louis sales officeBruce loved to be near or on the water, whether it was on a sailboat on Lake Erie or on a paddle boat on the beaver pond. He also enjoyed motorcycles, car racing, and driving his Mustang. He was a member of the worship team at Chardon United Methodist Church for the past 10 years, where he served by preparing and providing technical support for the contemporary worship.Survivors are his wife, Kathleen Marie (Giesler) Abe of Chardon, whom he married June 1, 1968, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in South Euclid; daughters, Karyn (Don) Vaughn of Belleville, Mich., and Megan (Shawn) Hufendick of Willoughby; grandchildren, Morgan Marie and Tyler Joseph Vaughn; brother, Donald Abe of Corona, Calif.; niece, Kelly Gehrs; nephew, Robert (Rachel) Gehrs; and fun cousins and dear friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick C. and Virginia F.
