Arthur (Art) Stukey passed away at his home in Mentor Ohio, on Monday, January 17, after a long illness. Art was born in New Jersey in 1922, the only child of Arthur Ernest and Elpha Eliza Burdick Stukey. He graduated from Fort Lee NJ Senior High School, Dartmouth College (Class of 1942) and the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration. He served in the US Navy during World War II, and again during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the US Naval Reserve with the rank of Commander in 1965.Art was an Industrial Engineer for 38 years, achieving the top position in that department in each of the companies for which he worked: TRW Inc., White Motors Corporation and Volvo GM Trucks of North America. He was a Life Member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, receiving its Distinguished Service Award in 1965.Art was a member of the Baha’i Faith. He was also a world traveler, visiting all the continents except Antarctica. He loved dogs. His Labrador Retrievers were his faithful companions for many years, joined more recently by a West Highland White Terrier.Art moved to Chardon in 1953 where he and his wife of 50 years, Marion (Bebe), raised their four children. He kept busy working in the yard and garden and had perfect attendance at his children’s many school, music, drama and sports activities. After brief moves to Farmington Hills Michigan and Greensboro North Carolina, he retired to Chardon and then to Mentor. He loved to swim and work out at the YMCA.His parents and his wife Marion are deceased. He is survived by their four children: Kathy (Leo) Cox of Kettering Ohio; Mark (Pat Trivison) Stukey of St Petersburg Florida; Ann (Ernest) Montgomery of Lakewood Ohio; and Sue Stukey (Joe Gromofsky) of Mentor. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Travis (Mary) Horn of Kirtland; Daniel (Megan) Cox of St Paul Minnesota; Brian and Katie Montgomery of Lakewood Ohio; Allison Stukey of St Petersburg Florida; Gillian (Jonathan and daughter Hannah) Goodman of Cleveland Heights, and Suzanne Gromofsky of Chardon. His kind and loving guidance will be missed by his devoted children and grandchildren. Special thanks to the caregivers who gave him such loving care for so many years: John, Cathy, Jackie, Liz and especially Miki. They will always be part of the family.Services will be held at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, Chardon Ohio, (On Rt. 44, 500′ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH on Saturday, January 22.
