Anna Holy traveled to the United States with her husband on the SS Rotterdam, arriving at Ellis Island on August 9, 1922.Mrs. Holy raised 7 children and was an active farmer with her husband, They would make cottage cheese and butter, and then transport it to the Farmer’s Market in their Model T. Anna was an excellent cook and baker, making soup everyday. The canning of vegetables and meat was done over a wood-burning stove – even during the summer.She enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers.Her family was also able to enjoy the gifts of her crocheting abilities.The family, as well as the staff at Blossom Hill, felt that she was the “best grandma” in the world.Fondest memories will be of her “lighting up” whenever her grandchildren were present. She is survived by her daughters Helen (Joseph) Skoch of Chardon Twp., Jennie (James) Ptak of Russell Twp., Martha (Charles) Virant of Harpersfield Twp.,Marilyn (Robert) Schwartz of Montville Twp., sons George (Margie) Holy of Munson Twp., Frank (Sonja, deceased) Holy of Chardon Twp., Joseph (Carol, deceased) Holy Jr. of Harpersfield Twp., 19 Grand Children, 42 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Granddaughter. Her Husband: Joseph Holy, Sr.parents Joseph and Anna (Nee: Foglova) Bergman, 1 Sister and 2 Brothers are deceased.
