Anna B. Beck, age 106, of Chardon, died July 22, 2010, at Burton Heath Care in Chardon.She was born May 22, 1904, in Sacramento, Calif., and was a resident of the area for the past 74 years, moving from Cleveland.Mrs. Beck was a nursing supervisor at Corey Hospital and a night supervisor when Geauga Community Hospital was built.In 1972, she became the original member of the Mentor Senior Citizens, and in 1985 was honored as Lake County’s Outstanding Senior Citizen Volunteer for her work at the center. She belonged to the Eastern Star and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.Survivors are her son, William A. Miller; grandchildren, Eva Lugibihl and Renee Garlak; and great-grandchildren, Lauren Renner and Bradley Garlak.She was preceded in death by her first husband, John J. Miller; second husband, George S. Beck; son, Dr. John T. Miller; brother, Albert Fargo; and sisters, Louise Theobald, Alice Wert, and Jean Cox.A memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Chardon United Methodist Chruch, 515 North Street. The Rev. Henry Woodruff, PhD. will officiate at the memorial service. Private family graveside service will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Burton.
