In Loving Memory of Ann Gay (nee: Pomeroy) Pimley,
It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we bid farewell to my beloved wife and mother of our two children, Ann Gay Pomeroy Pimley, age 74, of Mentor, OH. She peacefully passed away on December 26, 2023, surrounded by the comforting embrace of our home. Ann was born to Franklin Clyde and Elsie Ruth (nee: Hoyt) Pomeroy on December 5, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio. A proud 1968 graduate of Chardon High School, she further pursued her education, earning an Associates degree. In 1970, we joyfully embarked on the journey of marriage at Pilgrim Christian Church in Chardon, Ohio.
Throughout the tapestry of our life together, Ann and I explored various states, creating cherished memories in Minnesota, California, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Florida, Puerto Rico, and eventually returning to our Ohio roots. Ann’s nurturing spirit radiated through her work at childcare centers and her loving care for children in our own home.
Ann possessed a love for gardening and plants, adorning our surroundings with beauty and life. Her commitment to making a positive impact extended beyond our home, as she dedicated herself to causes close to her heart. Ann took pride in her membership with the American Council of the Blind and contributed several years of service on the Fairfax County Virginia Disability Services Board. Additionally, she actively participated in the Lake County Genealogical Society.
Ann is survived by her devoted husband, D A Pimley of Mentor, OH; her son, Stephen Pimley of Mentor, OH; and her daughter, Lara (Erik) Mellenberg of Seattle, WA. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished by those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin Clyde and Elsie Ruth (nee: Hoyt) Pomeroy, and her sister Lynn Diane Kirby.
Services to celebrate Ann’s life will be held at a later date.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Ann’s name to the Northern Ohio Chapter of the ALS Association, 1300 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22209 www.als.org or to the American Council of the Blind of Ohio, 3805 North High St., Suite 305, Columbus, Ohio 43214 www.acbohio.org .
D A Pimley would like to share a letter received from sweet Ann Gay many years ago when given the picture above.
This picture is for a wonderful guy to remind him of me and all the good times we have had together. I hope the relationship we have together can grow, but if by some chance it doesn’t, then I hope we can still be friends. With all my love, Ann.
Dear, I have cherished your picture and words more than you can ever know and I have enjoyed loving you these past 53 years. Your gentle heart, wise counsel, and companionship will be missed by me and all who knew you.
