He served on the Metzenbaum School Board and was a camp counselor at Camp Ho Mita Koda for several years.He enjoyed swimming, camping, fishing and vacationing at Lake Chautauqua, NY. He and his wife ran Maple Springs Country Store in Lake Chautauqua, NY for five years during the summer months. He is survived by his wife Ruth A. (Sprague) Savchuk, whom he married in Cleveland, May 30, 1956. children Mary Ruth (Mike) Hasman of Newbury and Mark Savchuk of Pierpont and grandchildren Brian and Stephanie Hasman.
