Alys Helen (O’Neal) Barth, 89, of Chester Township, passed away March 9, 2011, at Blossom Hill Care Center in Huntsburg Township.Born Feb. 23, 1922, she had lived in Chester Township for more than 50 years.Mrs. Barth became a real estate agent after her children were grown. She worked for Delores Knowlton for more than 10 years before her retirement.Alys Helen O’Neal married Walter Edward Barth June 21, 1943, in Newport. He preceded her in death July 21, 2005.Mrs. Barth enjoyed golfing, traveling, being very active in the Wally Byam Caravan Club. They traveled all over the United States of America and Canada. She was an active member of the League of Women’s Voters, the Geauga County Republican Women’s Association and the Glenville Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.Survivors are her daughters, Judy (Allen) Keener of Chardon and Ann (William) Riley of Chardon; grandchildren, Jeanne (William) Weeks of Shaker Heights, Marc (Susan) Richmond of Chandler, Arizona, Amy Richmond of Chester Township, Danielle (Chris) Tollon of Maple Heights, Monica (William) Miller of Brunswick, Derek Lang of Chardon, Nicole Barth of Chester Township and Miranda Barth of Chester Township; great-grandchildren, Donny, Lauren, Courtney, Blaine, Ashley, Owen, Sarah, Renee’, Andrew, Brendan, Elijah and Eden; sisters, Selma Faye (Raymond) Lee of Reno and Sandra Kaye (William) Brockmier of Reno; and brother, Larry (Theda) O’Neal of Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Edward Barth Sr.; sons, Walter Edward Barth Jr. and James Neal Barth; and parents, Frederick Vaughn and Anna Lucille (nee Carpenter) O’Neal.Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2011, at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street (Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon. The Rev. Leah Matthews of the Community Church of Chesterland will officiate. Burial will be in Chester Township Cemetery.Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011, at the funeral home.
