AL R. HUNZIKER, Age 81, of Chardon, died October 22, 2019 at UH Geauga Medical Center. Born February 16, 1938 to Al M. and Nellie (nee: Demicone) Hunziker in Cleveland, he lived in Kirtland, before moving to Chardon. Al was an Electrician with Local #38, Chief Building Official for Highland Hts., Lake County and he retired from Oakwood Village after 22 years of service. Al also served on the Planning and Zoning Board for the City of Chardon. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, camping and traveling with his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Al proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years Irene (nee: Dupont) Hunziker, son Marc Hunziker of Munson Twp and daughter Denise (John) Joaquin of Chardon and grandsons Kyle and Max Hunziker and Joseph and Daniel Joaquin. Al was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon. Private family burial will be held at Chardon Municipal Cemetery. The family suggests donations to Chardon Fire & Rescue, 110 South Hambden St., Chardon, OH 44024.
