Age 69, of Hambden Twp., OH, died on Friday, August 16, 2019, at home. He was born in Cleveland, OH, on July 10, 1950, to William R. and Marie (Nee: Burrows) Holbert Sr., was a lifelong resident of Geauga County, a 1968 graduate of Ledgemont High School in Thompson, and attended the Lakeland Community College Police Officers Training.
Bill had worked at the former Conley’s Dept. Store, Chardon Rubber Company, construction of the Perry Nuclear Power Plant, where he continued in Plant Security and Fire Service. He then furthered his career with the Wade Park and Brecksville VA Hospitals, first in the Fire Service, then moving into Law Enforcement. He retired as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer in 2012.
Bill had interests in a wide area, having been on the Montville Vol. Fire Dept. and the Thompson Twp. Police Dept. He was a fanatic of the Civil War History, and avid reader, and enjoyed an interest in Paranormal activities.
Survivors include his companion of 12 years, Diane Mack; son, William D. (Kristy) Holbert of Montville Twp., OH; grandchildren, Tyler and Danny Holbert, Brandon Knight, and Gwen Ethan, Carter, Andrew, Isaac, Isabella, Dylan, Ivy, Dominic, J’Taya and Jamica. Sisters, Theresa (Gary) Fike of Concord Twp., Wanda Kraus, and Rose Dent of Montville Twp.; brothers, John (Alexa) of Montville Twp., Argel (Alicia) of Windsor, Roger (Brenda) of Thompson, and Carl (Jillee) of Andover. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Julie Anne Knight; grandson Angel Holbert; sisters, Donna Jean Secrist and Lola Murphy; and brother, Duane.
On Saturday, August 24, 2019 a Funeral Procession will form at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, OH, at 11:00 a.m. and proceed to Montville Cemetery for a Graveside Service. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will continue at the Hambden Town Hall, 13887 GAR Highway, Hambden Twp. Donations may be made in Bill’s name to “Santa’s Hide-a-Way Hollow”, 15400 Bundysburg Rd., Middlefield, OH 44062
