GERTZ, William N., age 93 of Hambden Twp., (since 1953) died March 26, 2021 in Chardon. Born March 15, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio to Norman and Dorothy (nee: Hinske) Gertz, husband of the late Jean (nee: Milford) whom he married June 21, 1952, father of Norm (Heidi) Gertz, Paul (Linda) Gertz, both of Hambden Twp., Joanne (Greg) Schumacher of Zebulon, NC. Grandchildren- Melanie (Joe) Hines, Natalie (Steve) Gertz-Young, Elizabeth Gertz, Ryan Gertz, Heidi (Steven) Preddy, Clay (Justine) Schumacher, Great-grand children- Parker Frank, Evelyn Schumacher, and Andrew Hines.
Bill graduated from Brush High School in 1946 and was a member of the Brush Athletic Hall of Fame. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1946-47 in the Asiatic Pacific Area (China), obtaining the rank of Corporal. After faithfully serving his country, he graduated from Hiram College and started a 39 year career with the R. W. Sidley Co., retiring as the Assistant to the President. Bill loved gardening, fishing, and vacationing with his family in Canada. He served his community as a Hambden Twp. Trustee, a Park Commissioner for the Geauga Park District, was an active member of the Hambden Congregational Church, was a member of the Great Geauga County Fair Board and the American Legion.
Private Family Services were held. A public Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

They are especially grateful to the staff and residents of Thistle House for providing a safe, loving and caring home for Bill over the last several months.
