Dr. William Lee Thompson
On Wednesday, December 29th, 2021 at 3:20 pm, William Lee Thompson passed away at the age of 83. Bill was born in Cambridge, Ohio in 1938 to Llewellyn and Doris (Baker) Thompson. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Dresden, Ohio. He earned a Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering from Case School of Applied Science, now known as Case Western Reserve University.
He married his sweetheart, Jeannine, in April of 1970, and they spent 51 wonderful years together. They raised three children: Jon Thompson (of Chardon, OH), Joel Thompson (of Enterprise, OR) and Joy (Thompson) Depenbrok (of Atlanta, GA).
He began his career with Babcock and Wilcox, and retired from the same company, then known as ABB. He taught at Capital University, Cleveland Branch as an adjunct professor for a number of years. He finished his professional career at Newbury Local School District filling various positions, always helping with computer issues. He loved every minute, knowing he was helpful to the staff!
Bill was known for his generosity and willingness to help his neighbors, especially when it came to the topic of computers. He was a devout member of Huntsburg Baptist Church, faithfully attending there for 46 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannine Thompson; sons Jon Thompson and Joel Thompson; daughter-in-law, Wendy Thompson; daughter, Joy (Thompson) Depenbrok; son-in-law, Otto Depenbrok; grandchildren, Rachel Taylor, Eilie Depenbrok, and Asa Depenbrok.
No service will be held at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
