WILLIAM HARRIS “BILL” CHAPEK 

Age 69, passed away unexpectedly on December 5, 2022, in Painesville, Ohio.  Bill was born to Charles and Florence (nee: Harris) Chapek on June 29, 1953, in Chardon, Ohio. 

He was a skilled craftsman and self-employed carpenter, serving many throughout Northeast Ohio.  On July 18, 1980, he married Sarah (nee: Croyle), blending a beautiful family.  He and Sarah later moved to North Carolina where they lived for over 15 years and just recently moved back to the area, residing in Painesville, Ohio. 

Bill was an avid fisherman and had quite the green thumb, spending summer days gardening.  He loved cracking open a cold one after a long day of work, kicking back and sharing stories with family and friends.  He will be remembered for his culinary skills, a true Grill Master and no one will ever be able to come close to duplicating his Big Breakfasts.  He will be greatly missed by family and friends, but most missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he adored with his whole heart. 

Survivors include his wife, Sarah; daughters, Emmy (Ryan) Beeson of Findlay, and Tami Chapek of Columbus; step-children he loved as his own, Lawrence (Jill Chapek) Morse of Trumbull Township, Jennifer (Michael) Dunning of Geneva, and Glee (Steven Rosen) Morse-Slivka of Chesterland; brothers, Bob (Sue) Chapek of Thompson Township and David Chapek of Thompson Township; sisters, Nancy Hawley of Thompson Township, Jill (Lawrence Morse) Chapek, and Chris (Melanie Sanders) Chapek of Geneva; grandchildren, Todd, Ashley, Hillary, Cameron, Jake, Lachelle, Taylor, Rachel, Nichole, Abby, Jesse, and Harris; and 10 great-grandchildren; and Sarah and Bill’s kitties, Trixie & Dixie. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Linda Chapek; nephew, Jeremy Chapek and niece, Kelly Hawley. 

Family will receive friends, Monday, December 12, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with the Funeral Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, Chardon, Ohio.
