Age 80 of Hambden Twp., died peacefully at Heather Hill Care Center August 12, 2021. Born July 1, 1941 in Mecklenburg, Germany to Anton Fridolin and Amalie (nee: Hillenbrand), he came to the United States in 1951, becoming a Naturalized Citizen in 1963. He was a faithful member of the Church of St. Mary of Chardon. Bill was a Sheet Metal Worker for Local #33 in Cleveland retiring after 44 years of dedicated service and a 62 year member of the Union. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed boating, camping, bowling, working in the yard, watching Old Western Movies and the Cleveland Indians. His greatest joy was swimming with his grandchildren in his backyard pool.
Survivors include his wife Marilyn (nee: Bene) Friedel, whom he married April 29, 1961, children Christina (Ronald) Dunning of Chardon Twp., Michael Friedel of Hambden Twp., John Friedel of Chardon and Ryan (Elizabeth) Friedel of Concord Twp. He also leaves his grandchildren, Aaron, Devin, Brittany, Emily (Nick) Mowen and Megan and great grandson, Cooper; and his brother Arthur (Alice) Friedel of N. Olmsted, sister in laws Marge Friedel and Vi(Lee) Fierman. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald Friedel and daughter in law Rosemarie (nee: Mantegna) Friedel.
Family will receive friends on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, Chardon, Ohio 44024. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 10:00 AM at The Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon. Interment will follow at All Souls Cemetery.
