WILLIAM “DALE” BARTHOLOMEW, JR.
Age 82 of Burton Village, left this world peacefully surrounded by family on December 7, 2021. He was born February 25, 1939 in Hiram, Ohio to William “Dale” and Pearl (nee: Bailey) Bartholomew.
Dale proudly served in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard as a plane and helicopter pilot, retiring at the rank of Major and was a former member of American Legion Post #459 (Burton). In addition, Dale was the former Police Chief of Claridon Township, a Solon, Ohio Police Officer and part-time Geauga County Deputy Sheriff, as well as an Operating Engineer for Ronyak Paving and Schloss Paving.
A lifelong resident of Geauga County, Dale was very active in the community: Board Member of the Geauga County Historical Society, a former member and bagpiper with the Geauga Highlanders Pipe & Drums; former President of the Burton-Berkshire School Board; former member of the Geauga County Fair Board and a former member of the Burton Jaycees.
In his spare time, Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting stamps and coins, as well collecting and selling antiques. He was also an avid sports fan of his alma mater, (Burton) Berkshire School District, and also an avid fan of Ohio State Football. Above all else, his greatest pride and joy was his family.
Survivors include: His children, Tamara “Tami” Bartholomew of Burton Village and William “Todd” Bartholomew of Middlefield Township; brothers, Charles (Louise) Bartholomew of Burton Township, Gale (Judy) Bartholomew of Middlefield Township; sister in law, Kathy Bartholomew of Moore, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer (Justin) Hess, Jillianne Bartholomew, Rachel Bartholomew, and Brice Bartholomew; and great grandchildren Hudson, Linkoln, Gwenyth, Whitten, Vivian, Tobin and Ellisyn Hess. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Duane Bartholomew, and sister Darlene (William) Reed.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 8th, 2022, from 2:00p – 5:00p in the Bond Building at Century Village, Burton, OH. A private family service will be held at 5:30p.m.
