WILLARD “WILL” ROBERT DUNS, JR.
Age 74 of Burton Twp., died unexpectedly at UH Cleveland Medical Center, October 31, 2018. Born November 27, 1943 in E. Cleveland, to Willard and Helen (nee: Kohler) Duns, Sr., he has been a Burton resident for over 55 years. Will was passionate about music, working as the “sound man” for several local bands and the Great Geauga County Fair. He was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church but first and foremost his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Will retired after 33 years of faithful service as a Lieutenant and Paramedic from Shaker Hts. Fire Department in 1998.
Survivors are his beloved wife of 35 years Janet (nee: Eades) of Burton, children Debbie Bowman of Chardon, Willard Dan (Karen) Duns of AZ, Denise (Neil) Cunningham of Gates Mills, Dale (Faun) Duns of AZ, Robert Willard Duns of FL, Holly Duns of Cleveland and Kristin Duns of Pittsburgh. Grandchildren Merissa (Bob) Baumgartner, Kali, Amber and Ky Bowman, Ryan (Andrea) Hare, Clay, Nicholas and Lexie Cunningham and Robken and Risa Duns, great grandchildren David, Sophia and Harper. He also leaves brother-in-law Timothy (Diane) Eades and sister-in-law Becky (Mike) Berg and nieces and nephews Jimmy, Ericka, Melissa and Mikey. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 PM on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St. (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon. The funeral service will be Monday, November 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, 12686 Bass Lake Road, Chardon. Burial will follow at Welton Cemetery, Burton. I grew up with Willard in East Cleveland. We lived on Rozelle Ave. and he lived behind us on Hayden Ave. We were also in scouts together. I remember Willard and his brother Rex as well as his parents. I believe his dad worked at Shaw High School. My wife and I saw Willard frequently at the Geauga Fair and in Burton. He was always a very kind man and easy to talk with. His mother lived in a trailer park in Chardon and we often attempted to get him together with my mother since they had been long-time friends. We were looking forward to hearing him sing in a restaurant in Burton. We were surprised to see the notice today, Nov. 9th and are disappointed we did know about his passing sooner! Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family!
