Walter A. Mallula age 95 of Chardon died Oct. 16, 2013 at his residence. He was born Dec. 21, 1917 in Girard, OH to John and Mary (nee: Hara) Mallula, he had been a longtime area resident. Walter was raised on and enjoyed spending time on the family farm in Middlefield. Walter married Faunetta (nee: Phipps) on May 6, 1950 and was still deeply in love with her even after her death Aug. 14, 2012. He was employed by and retired from TRW as a millwright. Walter enjoyed gardening, bird watching, being outdoors and fixing things. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man but also a hard worker, good provider and a loving father. Survivors include his daughters Sandra Garriga of North Bloomfield, Alnita (David) Paterson of Hambden and Nanette (Ray) Serra of Painesville; 10 Grandchildren: Dominic, Gabriel, Zakariah, Kippany, Benjamin, Gloriea, and Isaac Garriga; Ian Paterson, Salomae Anderson and Oakley Lewis; 6 Great-grandchildren and many extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother William, sisters Ellen Maresca and Elvi Hanson. FUNERALSVC: 11am Monday Oct. 21, 2013 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South ST. (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH with Pastor Andrew Beorn of the Hambden Alliance Church officiating. VISITATION: 4-7pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
