Virginia May (Woodard) Blasko, 97, formerly of Lake Aquilla Village in Claridon Township, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Holly Hill in Newbury Township. Born Nov. 16, 1914, in Elkins, W. Va., she was a lifelong Geauga County resident. Virginia was a graduate of Chester High School. She enjoyed crocheting towels and other items that she could give to family and friends. Mrs. Blasko was employed as a bookkeeper for the former P.F. Nolan Company in Chardon. She also did the books for the former Maple Leaf Auto Body and the former Ross Rexall Drugs. Virginia married Gus Blasko on March 4, 1935. He preceded her in death in 1964. Survivors are her daughters, Janet (John) Borsi and Julia (Dean) Schanzel, both of Munson Township; five grandchildren, Janell Green, Christopher, Gary and Craig Borsi, and April Schanzel; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Richard (Lois) Woodard of Chardon Township. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus; parents, Justin and Mabel (Adams) Woodard; and sisters, Eileen Grant, Harriett Tarro and Mary Veltman. Funeral services will be noon Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at The Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street (Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until noon Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Chardon Municipal Cemetery. Donations in Virginia’s memory are suggested to your favorite charity.
