Virginia May (Woodard) Blasko

Virginia May (Woodard) Blasko, 97, formerly of Lake Aquilla Village in Claridon Township, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Holly Hill in Newbury Township. Born Nov. 16, 1914, in Elkins, W. Va., she was a lifelong Geauga County resident. Virginia was a graduate of Chester High School. She enjoyed crocheting towels and other items that she could give to family and friends. Mrs. Blasko was employed as a bookkeeper for the former P.F. Nolan Company in Chardon. She also did the books for the former Maple Leaf Auto Body and the former Ross Rexall Drugs. Virginia married Gus Blasko on March 4, 1935. He preceded her in death in 1964. Survivors are her daughters, Janet (John) Borsi and Julia (Dean) Schanzel, both of Munson Township; five grandchildren, Janell Green, Christopher, Gary and Craig Borsi, and April Schanzel; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Richard (Lois) Woodard of Chardon Township. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus; parents, Justin and Mabel (Adams) Woodard; and sisters, Eileen Grant, Harriett Tarro and Mary Veltman. Funeral services will be noon Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at The Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street (Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until noon Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Chardon Municipal Cemetery. Donations in Virginia’s memory are suggested to your favorite charity. Virginia lived a very full life from beginning to end. I only met Virginia in her later years, but I could tell I was lucky to get to know her at all. I also know that Virginia left behind a wonderful family, so I will always be grateful to her for giving me two friends. I think a lot of this family. They are very good kind people. I am so glad Rhonda spent so much time with Virginia. Both Rhonda and Virginia are one in a million in all the best ways.I am so sorry for your loss. I know God will need to be more on his toes in heaven these days now that Virginia has joined him and all the angels and saints.

I want to send my condolences to Virginia's family over the loss of a very sweet lady. I have cared for Virginia, at Holly Hill, and it was a joy to have to had the privilege in getting to know her. There are many precious memories that I will treasure and cherish.God bless you all!
