Victor Germano was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 9, 1940, and passed away December 2, 2022, at his home in Concord Township from complications associated with AL Amyloidosis. He lived in Lake County for over 65 years. Victor was the son of Frank N. and Angela M. (Simonetta) Germano, both deceased. Victor grew up in Collinwood and South Euclid where the Germano family embraced their Italian heritage. Sundays were for large Italian meals with lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Pace). They were married for 48 years, and they raised 5 children, Victor N. and Kelly (Lawrence) Germano, Gold Coast, Oregon; Theresa Germano, Louisville, Ohio; Barbara Germano, Beach City, Ohio; Mark and Amy (Lane) Germano, Marietta, Georgia; and Thomas and Cassia (McKinney) Germano, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Victor was the grandfather of 12 and the great grandfather of 16. Victor is also survived by his sister, Camillia Germano, of Willoughby, Ohio. His older sister, Joanne Simpson, and his older brother, Michael Germano preceded him in death.
Victor graduated Benedictine High School in 1958 and attended Hiram College, finishing his degree in Chemistry at Garfield College in 1966. He was employed as a chemist by Diamond Shamrock (Metal Coatings International) and spent his career working in research, marketing, and administration. He was awarded several patents throughout his career.
Outside of work, Victor selflessly donated his blood to the Red Cross throughout his entire adult life. In addition, he volunteered for Junior Achievement, mentoring youth in his spare time.
Victor had a natural talent for music, and he played the piano for relaxation and for his family’s enjoyment. He also entertained everyone with his dad jokes and antics. He kept us always laughing. There was one thing Victor loved next to his family: golf. He spent many years on golf courses, no matter the season. Throughout his lifetime he scored two holes-in-one. He enjoyed traveling for work and pleasure. His favorite place to visit was Italy, immersing himself in the culture, language and food of each area of the country.
Victor was a generous and caring father and a wonderful and loving husband. He will be missed.
Visitation will be held on December 28, 2022 at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, Chardon, Ohio 44024 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 pm.
