THOMAS R. STARR
Age 79 of Munson Twp., died unexpectedly on July 12, 2018. Born July 27, 1938 in Blainesburg, PA, he had been a Geauga County Resident for more than 60 years. Tom proudly served in the US Army. He was the Plant Supervisor for J&L Steel for 40 years before his retirement. He loved to camp, was an avid Trap Shooter and he enjoyed fishing, playing cards and gambling. Tom served as a Trustee at the Pilgrim Christian Church, a member of Aerie Eagles #2261 and American Legion Post #459.
Survivors include his loving companion, Helen Wilson of Munson Twp., brother William (Dee) Brewer of Lake Wales, FL, sister in law Sandra Hritz of Brownsville, PA, niece Chelle (Raymond) Adams, great nephews Aaron John and Noah Thomas of Morgantown, WV and nephew John Hritz of Morgantown, WV, “Beloved Papa Tom” to Evianna and Grayson Ulrich, children of Dawn (Chris) Ulrich and Justin and Tyler, children of Steve (Ann) Wilson. He also leaves his faithful best friend Shadow Dog.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Myra Jean (nee: Kurtz) Starr.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM Friday, July 20 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (on St. Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, followed by the funeral service at 6:00 PM. Burial will be Saturday, July 21 at 12:00 noon at Acklin Cemetery, Brownsville, PA with Military Honors. The family suggests donations to Pilgrim Christian Church, 202 S. Hambden St., Chardon, 44024.
