THELMA M. WISE (NEE: OBENAUF), age 86, of Munson Twp., died peacefully on Friday, April 23, 2021. Born July 31, 1934 in Youngstown to Howard and Eleanor (nee: Jones) Obenauf, she has been a lifelong Northeast Ohio resident. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 40 years, Jerome H. Wise, and will be greatly missed by her immediate and extended family.
As an artist and prize-winning floral arranger, she became the matriarch of the alter guild at St. Luke Episcopal Church. Thelma held degrees from Kent State in Art and Education, 1956. She was an ardent gardener, bird watcher, and shopper/gift giver. More recently at Notre Dame Village she cherished the fellowship of residents and staff. Her family will forever appreciate Penny Findley – her friendship and care.
Survivors include her children, Cynthia (Jeff) Lorenczi of Chardon Twp. and Craig (Carol) Wise, granddaughters Annie (Gabriel), Katherine and Grace all of Memphis, TN. She also adored her great grandsons Emerson, Oscar, Theo, and was looking forward to a fourth in September. She had survived her parents and only sister, Naomi Waite.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 11519 Wilson Mills Rd., Chardon, with the Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 p.m noon. If desired, make donations to St. Luke or the Juvenile Diabetes Association, www.jdrf.org.
