TERRENCE LEE SNEDEKER
On Wednesday, December 1, 2021, Terrence Lee Snedeker, loving husband and father of three children, passed away at the age of 69.
Terrence was born on April 28, 1952 in Troy, PA to John and Mary Jane (White) Snedeker. He graduated from Charles O. Dickerson high school in Trumansburg, NY in 1970. He received his associates degree from Alfred University in Alfred, NY in 1972, where he was first introduced to computer programming and business. On June 10, 1972, he married Stephanie Lou Chaffee, his love since his first crush in third grade. They raised a daughter, Sarah Katherine (Snedeker) Sears, and two sons, Benjamin David Snedeker and Jordan Michael Snedeker.
In 1984, Terrence borrowed $5,000 from his father to launch Compusist, a remittance processing software company for banks, utilities, and enterprises. He moved the business to Dryden, NY in 1986. It quickly grew to over 100 employees and reached customers on three continents. In 1993, and again in 1994, Compusist was recognized by Incorporated magazine as one of the top 500 fastest growing companies in the United States. He served as CEO for over 10 years.
Terrence was known for his love of–and sacrifice for–the people around him. He was devoted to following Jesus, and found his spiritual home at C.L.C. Church in Freeville, NY. He had a quick wit, and he loved to laugh. He was an avid fan of jazz music, the Red Sox, and Syracuse basketball. He loved to travel, especially by RV. One of his favorite hobbies was birdwatching, and over 30 years his feeder became a mainstay for numerous varieties. His favorites were the flicker, the bald eagle, and the pileated woodpecker. He had nicknames for all of them.
Terrence was preceded in death by his father, John, his mother, Mary Jane, his sister Marylouise, and his father-in-law Wilfred L. Chaffee. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie; his three children, Ben (Sarah B.), Sarah (John), and Jordan (Rachel); his grandchildren, Julia, Eden, Owen, Emory, Lincoln, Ellianna, Wilfred, Josephine, Elise, and Ethan; his sisters, Cheryl Borden (Joseph) and Patricia Midgley (Jorg); his brother Robert (Cheryl H.); his mother-in-law Irene B. Chaffee; his brother-in-law Craig Chaffee (Kathy); and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Thrive Church (thriveny.org) located at 318 Johnson Rd, Freeville, NY beginning at 1 o’clock p.m. followed by a funeral service at 3 o’clock p.m.
