Susan W. Acton, age 73, of Chardon, Ohio, passed away at her home on January 6, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 25, 1948, to Howard and Sarah (nee: Jamison) Gittings in Cleveland, Ohio.
In 1968, she married Timothy Acton, and despite divorcing in 1993, continued a lifelong wonderful friendship. She leaves behind daughter, Mallory (Edward) Greenslade of Chesterland, OH; Lifelong friend and ex-husband, Timothy Acton; siblings, Marilyn Elmore of Mentor, Robert (Sandy) Gittings and Michael Gittings of Columbus; twin granddaughters, Sarah, and Sydney; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and dear brother-in-law, James Elmore.
Susan worked as a Deputy Clerk for Geauga County Clerk of Courts for 28 years before her illness forced her to retire in 2021. Her proudest accomplishment was being Grammy to her granddaughters. She would always be up for whatever road trip or adventure her daughter and granddaughters had planned.
As a precaution due to Covid, a celebration of life will be planned at a future date, as well as private family burial.
The family would like to thank Timothy Acton for going far beyond the call of duty and providing round the clock care for Susan, as well as Hospice of Western Reserve for phenomenal support and care during such a difficult time.
Everyone is blessed with a mother- not everyone is lucky enough to be also blessed with a mother who’s a best friend.
