Burie “Sonny” Ellison Keene

August 26, 1930 - October 24, 2013

Burie E. “Sonny” KEENE age 83 of Hambden Twp. died Oct. 24, 2013 at UH Geauga Regional Hospital. Born Aug. 26, 1930 in Splash Down, VA to James R. and Hester M. (nee: Dye) Keene, he had been a resident of Wickliffe before moving to Hambden Twp. in 1977. Sonny owned and operated Keene’s Auto Service in Hambden before working with and retired from Mazel Company in Solon. Sonny loved music, collected LP’s and was a servant of God. His passion was spending time with his friends and family. Survivors include his wife of 62 years R. Ellen (nee: Jarrett) Keene of Hambden Twp; sons Norm (Dee) of Twinsburg and Ron (Renee) of Auburn Twp.; grandchildren April, Adam, Ron Jr. and Jennifer; great grandchildren Zachary, Sophia and baby boy on the way; brother Frank Keene of Ethridge, TN and many extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Virgil and James. FUNERALSVC: 11am Monday Oct. 28, 2013 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South ST. (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH. VISITATION: 4-6pm on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Hambden Twp. Cemetery.

Sonny was a sweet man. Always smiling and always helpful. Sonny was a pleasure to work with and always brought a smile to my face when I spoke to him. My prayers and thoughts are with his family. God Bless.

Uncle Sonny was my Buddy! He made me laugh and we loved to "kid" and give each other a "hard time". I will miss him but can't wait to see him when I get to heaven. Aunt Ellen you are a sweetheart, we love you and you are in our prayers.

Sonny you will be missed

Our prayers and feelings of sorrow are with Sonny's wife and with all his family left behind. Sonny's work is now over. He rests and waits. Lord Bless you Ellen and family as we wait for that reunion that Jesus has promised. "Let not your hearts be troubled..." Now is the time to lean on our Lord and Savior. The sting of death has no power over Sonny - a man of God

Uncle Sonny you will be missed dearly. But, we all know that you are in a peaceful place surrounded by angels. Bet your visiting with J.R. right now! To all of the family, we love you all very much and send our prayers that God will be with you in your time of need.

Mr. Keene acted the part of an honorary church Grandfather to our children, giving them gifts, telling them jokes, being a part of their lives. Our family appreciates the love, work and dedication Mr. and Mrs. Keene gave as a part of our church family. Our hearts and prayers are with the Keene family in their loss. We look forward to the coming of our Lord, when our loved ones will rise and we can be together in the kingdom of Heaven!

I can't even fully express my loss over Sonny's death. Loved him like a dad....looked up to him as a truly spiritual man of God and as an earthly father. I know we have the blessed promise of being reunited with our loved ones who go on before us. Sonny is now resting in peace to be awakened by the trumpet call of God....to be re-created without any fault or defect of these earthly bodies. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
