Robert J. Phillips, age 73, of Montville, Ohio, peacefully passed away at his home on October 8, 2020. Born November 21, 1946 to George and Marie (nee: Manning) Phillips in Chardon, Ohio. Bob was raised on a large dairy farm in Montville, Ohio, which is now the Geauga Park Districts Obseravatory Park. He is a graduate of Ledgemont High School in Thompson, Ohio and attended Ohio State University.
Bob farmed most of his life plus he and his companion, Patty Langfellow jointly owned Homestead Interiors for many years in Chardon, Ohio. Later in life he bought a large farm in Kinsman, Ohio where he raised 30 to 50 cattle, horses and pigs, grew thousands of pheasants from eggs plus 5000 ducks annually and chuckers and other game birds, which were sold or hunted on the property with Bob guiding hunts with his famous Labrador Retriever “Steel”. He planted, grew and harvested most of the animal feed on the farm. After beating stage 4 colon cancer in 2013, he returned to his farm in Montville and raised beef cattle along with his family of many dogs.
He is survived by his son, Robert J. (Monica) Phillips Jr. of West Lafayette, IN; Companion, Patty Langfellow of Montville, OH; Brothers, George (Cheryl) of WA, Bill Phillips of Middlefield, OH; sister, Cindy (David) Ginger of Centerville, OH, Sally Phillips of Villages, FL and grandson, Evan Phillips. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Susan.
