Robert Dale Beech, 83, of Chardon, passed away Oct. 16, 2012, in Chardon. Born Sept. 9, 1929, in Willoughby, he had lived in Kirtland before moving to the Chardon area 53 years ago. He was a member of Cleveland Local 18, International Union of Operating Engineers for 50 years. Robert Dale Beech married Barbara Jean Cada in Kirtland, May 3, 1958. She preceded in death April 18, 2011. Mr. Beech was a veteran of the U.S. Army, PFC, serving during the Korean War in Alaska, a member of V.F.W. Post 6519 in Chardon and a life member of Geauga F.O.E., Aerie 2261 in Chardon. He and his wife both enjoyed “games of chance” and traveling. Bob was an avid reader of westerns and detective books. He owned his own backhoe and grader, and enjoyed moving earth and gravel for family and friends. Survivors are his three daughters, Cynthia (Robert) Hantak of Chardon, Lori Hurley of Chardon and Marianne (Timothy) Parker of Chardon; and grandchildren, Cheryl Lynn Bergenstein, Lindsay Marie (Matthew) Plickert, Michelle Rae Hantak and Timothy John Parker Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Frances (nee Bishop) Beech; wife, Barbara J. Beech; sister, Beatrice Hassell; and one brother, Arthur William Beech. Private family services were held. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery in Chardon Township.
