Age 75, of Chardon, OH passed away on March 2, 2019. Bob was born May 3rd, 1943 to Robert and Donata (nee Kelly) Patton in Cleveland, OH. When he turned 18 he proudly joined the US Navy and served for four years on the USS Enterprise. When he returned, he worked for the Plain Dealer for 38 years until retirement. He married Linda Bruns (Carver) in 1978 and were married for 36 years. His hobbies included golfing, gambling and telling jokes. Bob cherished his family, friends and co-workers. He was a member of the F.O.E. Aerie Eagles #2261, Chardon, became a trustee for many years and spent a lot of his time there. The family is very grateful to the Hospice of Western Reserve for the care their father received.
He is survived by his children Terry (Paula) Carver of Cleveland, Laura (Scott) Dowling of Windsor, Thomas (Tammy) Carver of Chardon, and Shannon (Jeffrey) Lewis of Chardon. Grandchildren, Jessie (Josh) Duncan of Mentor, Megan Carver, Clayton Dowling, Cody Carver, Tyler Carver, Travis (Hailey) Carver of Ft. Bragg, NC and great-grandchildren, Zacharey, Nathan and Dominic Duncan.
He is also survived by his siblings, Maureen (Jim) Oswald of Parma, Nancy (Phillip) Dickinson of Concord, Kevin (Lauren) Patton of Mentor, sister-in-law, Gretchen (Joe) Zajdek of Novelty and Aunt Jeanne Chorman of Sarasota, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Linda.
The family will receive friends 5:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, March 11 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, Chardon. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home, Tuesday, March 12 at 11:00 AM with burial immediately following at Chardon Municipal Cemetery.
