Richard “Dick” Thomas Hill, age 91 of Burton Twp., formerly of Newbury Twp. for 42 years and Edgewater, FL for 24 years. He was born May 1, 1931, in Euclid, OH to Dewey and Elizabeth (nee: Keller) Hill. Dick was an active member of Restful Lake Association as President; Founder and first president of the Inland Lake Association; Secretary/Treasurer, Div. #3, Brotherhood Locomotive Engineers; Secretary/Treasurer Legislative Rep. for Div. #3, Board of Directors and Treasurer of Nycoll Credit Union; Secretary/Treasurer of EUMA Credit Union; Secretary/Treasurer of Conrail GC of A; Deacon and Head Usher Light of Calvary Church; Board of Directors of All PC Credit Unions; Terminal #32, President, Brotherhood Relief Compensation Fund. Dick proudly served as Staff Sgt. in the US Marine Corps, Korean War, 5th Marine Regiment, Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade F.M.F. also known as the Famous Fire Brigade. He fought in The Battle of Pusan Perimeter, Inchon Invasion/Wonsan Blockade, Liberation of Seoul, Hungnam Blockade, and Battle of Chosin Reservoir, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines Fought in Korea, the most decisive battle in Marine Corp history.
Survivors include his children, Thomas Richard “T.R.” (Lisa) Hill of Newbury Twp., Daniel W. Hill of Burton Twp.; granddaughter, Crystal K. Hill of Wickliffe; step-grandsons, Daniel of Wickliffe, and Jonathan of Mantua, Tarajcak. Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Ellen (nee: Kelling) Hill; sons, Oren Lee Hill, Scott Andrew Hill, and his parents.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 AM at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South Street, Chardon, OH 44024. Burial will follow at Newbury Center Cemetery.
