Age 89, of Chardon, passed away on September 4, 2019 with family by her side. Jean was born February 14, 1930 to Frank and Victoria (nee: Modzeleski) Zelazny in Throop, PA. Her and her family moved to Cleveland from PA in the 40’s. In 1969, Jean married Chester “Chet” Mazer and they settled in Chardon. They were married over 40 years. Jean spent over 30 years working at Bowman Products (Associated Spring) as an executive secretary. Jean’s hobbies included crossword puzzles, reading, dominos and card games. Above all, she cherished her time with her family. Pets also held a special place in Jean’s heart.
Survivors include her sister: Lillian Pikelis; brothers: Edward and Frank Zelazny; sisters-in-law: Rosemary (Bob) (nee: Mazer) Bowers and Sally Mazer; nieces: Linda (Butch) Moats, Gina Turner and Karen (Harry) Hopes; nephews: David (Katherine) Pikelis and Keith (Pam) Zelazny; many great and great-great nieces and nephews and her dog, Dusty.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and brother: Joseph Zelazny.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Mary’s of Chardon (401 North St., Chardon, OH 44024) on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 10:00 AM. Fellowship will follow the mass. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Hospice of the Western Reserve (17876 St Clair Ave, Cleveland, OH 44110) or the Geauga Humane Society (15463 Chillicothe Rd, Novelty, OH 44072). Arrangements handled by Burr Funeral Home.
