Ray Oliver Byers, age 91, of Chardon, Ohio, peacefully passed away at home on February 8, 2021. Born October 17, 1929 to Raymond Sherman and Charlotta K. (nee: Herrington) Byers in Salem, Ohio. He graduated from Mayfield High School in 1947, where he enjoyed running track. He married Shirley Ann Smith on January 19, 1951, she preceded him in death on February 4, 1982.
Ray worked in Hardware Sales in various stores in Northeast Ohio for over 60 years. He was a Cub Scout Leader for many years for Pack 93. He was a Former Deacon at the Hambden Congregational Church and enjoyed being part of the Geauga County Beekeepers Association.
He loved beekeeping, hunting, fishing and camping and everything outdoors.
He is survived by his children, Dale Oliver Byers of Chardon, OH, Dean Alan (Patricia) Byers of Lancaster, TX, Deryl Evans (Leslie) Byers of Chardon, OH, Dwain Irwin Byers of Solon, OH, Rae Ann Byers of Eastlake, OH and Lea Ann Byers of Chardon, OH. He was loved by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded by his parents, wife, Shirley, daughter in law, Janet Byers and granddaughter, Jennifer Byers.
Private Family Services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
