Phylis Ensign Valentine, Age 91, lifelong resident of Claridon Twp., died on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at UH Geauga Medical Center. She was born in Claridon Twp. on September 15, 1926, to Howard and Esther (Nee: Wilmot) Ensign. Although she had worked for the former Chardon Rubber Company, Phylis considered herself a homemaker, and enjoyed volunteering for the American Cancer Society, the Blood Mobile, and The Great Geauga County Fair. She married Orrin Valentine at the First Congregational Church of Claridon on November 10, 1946.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Orrin; brother, Richard Ensign, and 3 nieces, Linda Ensign (Lanny Stone), Vickie Kuhn (Rich) and Jan Ensign. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the First Congregational Church of Claridon, 13942 Mayfield Rd, Huntsburg, OH 44046. Interment will follow at the Claridon Center Cemetery. Donations suggested to the Church. Arrangements by the Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chardon.
