PATRICIA VIVIAN SHIFLETT (nee: SHEA)

Age 93, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018, in the Highland Farms Retirement Community in Black Mountain, NC, surrounded by the love of her daughter Pam, son-in-law Jon and the ever-caring Highland Farms’ staff. She was held in the hearts of family and friends across the country.

Pat will forever be remembered for her kind, generous spirit, sweet disposition and beautiful smile. She was born May 30, 1925, to Patrick and Vivian (nee: Stephan) Shea. She and her husband Ned (who preceded her in 2004), raised their four children in their own piece of heaven just outside of Chardon, Ohio where they were long-time residents. There, they instilled in their children and grandchildren the value of hard work, a job well done, generosity, positivity and goodness. What wonderfully beautiful souls they were. Now, as Pat would say, “And that’s done!”

She is survived by daughters Melissa (Larry) Washow of Barrington, IL and Pam (Jon) Casey of Black Mountain, NC; sons Geoff (Janet) Shiflett of Culver City, CA and Ned (Becky) Shiflett of Evergreen, CO; grandchildren Corie (Rob) of Durham, ME, Ben (Michelle) of Cary, IL, Kevin (Christine) of Denver, CO, Jason (Brianne) of Denver, CO and Sam of Los Angeles, CA; great-grandchildren Drew, Spencer and Zoey.

Services will be held at a future date. Donations may be made to the Geauga County Public Library – Chardon Branch, 12701 Ravenwood Drive, Chardon, OH 44024 or the Holden Arboretum, 9550 Sperry Road, Kirtland, OH 44094

Heartfelt condolences to the family from all at IHI who remember Pat so warmly. She was a very special lady and everyone loved her. She was our founder, Ned's wife and best friend and there is no doubt that IHI could not have succeeded without Pat's steadfast support of Ned's dream to start a company from scratch at 58 years old. We will miss you Pat.

Loved her! She was a dear family friend, and was always so kind! She even threw one of my mom’s bridal showers back in 1979! The Burr Family loved her, and she will be missed!

We remember her smile and joyful laugh...And sliding down the snow covered yard.

As I say good bye to Pat I remember the many great years in knowing both her and my Partner/friend Ned in building IHI. I will never forget either of them and pray for them every evening. May our great lord welcome you into his paradise.

Pam and family, I worked at IHI for 20 years and truly respected both your dad and mom. Your mom would stop by often, always so positive and always had a story to tell. We corresponded via mail a few times over a few years after she moved south, and not surprisingly, she was always upbeat, never spoke or wrote a harsh word, and would "give the shirt off her back" to anyone in need. I admired her greatly but unfortunately never told her in so many words. I will never forget her. My sympathies to your family.

I worked for Dr. Chartrands for many years and got to know your mom and dad. They were always gracious and friendly. I also looked forward to seeing them. So sorry for your loss.

Geoff, Ned, Melissa, Pam and family, Besides knowing you all, I was fortunate to get to know your mom while working at Sage's. What a great time we had! And all the plays too! Healing Blessings for you all at this time of loss.

I notice that Pat and our mom, Judy Goulder, shared the same birthday and they were such close friends living near each other for so many years on Chardon Kirtland Road. Thoughts are of you and your family at this difficult time.
