Norma Jean Chapman, 85, of Chardon, a homemaker, passed away Oct. 9, 2012, at Residence of Chardon. Born Dec. 12, 1926, in Miami, Fla., she had lived in Geauga County since 1944. Norma Jean Williams married Raymond Chapman Aug. 9, 1946, in Chardon. He preceded her in death July 7, 2002. Norma loved to watch the Indians. With her husband Raymond, they owned the Dari-Whip in Chardon. Norma was recently voted a Distinguished Citizen by the Chardon Bicentennial Committee. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors are her daughter, Linda Thomas of Painesville; sons, Larry (Pat) Chapman of Claridon Township, Jack (Charlene) Chapman of Philadelphia, Pa., and Gene (Brenda) Chapman of Claridon; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Volzer of Chardon and Sharyn Grant of North Point, Fla.; brothers, Robert (Shirley) Williams of Hambden Township and Donald (Beverly) Williams of Chardon; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Chapman; parents, Howard and Mabel (nee Borror) Williams; brother, Howard Williams Jr.; sisters, Mary Payne and Martha Hubbard; and two grandchildren, Mark and Larry Chapman. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (Route 44, 500 feet south of Route 6/Chardon Square), Chardon. Al Stevenson of New Covenant Fellowship Church in Chardon will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Private family burial will be held.
