Monireh Zaraian

September 3, 1936 - September 23, 2013

Monireh Zaraian, age 77, of Chardon passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013 at Metro Health Hospital. Monireh was born on September 3, 1936 in Iran and married her dearly-loved husband Taghi Jahangiri. She had only a middle school education, but was a driven woman. She did not allow that to hold her back. In 1969, she graduated from the American School of Crafts in Tehran, Iran and established an art school where she taught embroidery and handcrafts to young women. Shortly, after the revolution in Iran, Monireh and Taghi moved to Chardon, Ohio to be close to their eldest son, Dr. Jay Jahangiri. She was PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN after she became an American citizen, an achievement she treasured after experiencing the hardship of life in Iran. Monireh is survived by her husband of 62 years, Taghi Jahangiri of Chardon, OH; son Dr. Jay Jahangiri of Chardon, OH, a Professor at Kent State University; daughter-in-law Sara Omidi of Chardon, OH, a Nurse Practitioner at Cleveland Clinic; three granddaughters Dr. Sudy Elizabeth Jahangiri, M.D. and her husband Dr. Christopher Eugene Taggart, M.D. of Rochester, NY; Susan Jahangiri, Esq., and her boyfriend, Joseph Blumenthal, a computer software engineer, of Columbus, OH; Mitra Jahangiri, a graduate student at Kent State University; and her great-grand-dog, Bruiser, a cute little Yorkie Maltese. Monireh will always be remembered as a vibrant and energetic woman who enjoyed life. She will be missed dearly by her family here and in Iran. FUNERALSVC: 10am Saturday Sept. 28, 2013 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South ST. (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, OH. VISITATION: Friday from 5-8pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Chardon Municipal Cemetery.

Monireh, The day we meet when I was little. I remember we always see each other at the YMCA, you always like to tell me what you do during your spare time and tells stories in the past. We see each other at stores. You will be missed forever. I will think of you more and more.
