Matilda ““Tillie”” Lucy Young

December 12, 1913 - January 9, 2014

Matilda “Tillie” L. (nee:Dieska) Young, age 100 of Chardon Twp. died Jan. 9, 2014 at Blossom Hill Care Center in Huntsburg Twp. Born Dec. 12, 1913 in Lakewood, OH to Stephen and Lucy (nee: Apathy) Dieska, she had been a lifelong area resident. Tillie was the oldest parishioner and an active member of St. Mary Church in Chardon, since 1915. She retired at the age of 85 after 50 years as a Chief Deputy Clerk with the Juvenile Probate Court. Tillie enjoyed traveling all over the world and going with friends to casinos. Survivors include her daughter Helen (Ken) Seufer of Chardon Twp. and son Paul (Kay) Young of Highland, MI; grandchildren Kenny Seufer, Ann Wright and Mark Seufer, Steve and Scott Young and Michelle Potter; 13 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ben Dieska and sister Elsie Adams. FUNERALMASS: 11:30am on Monday Jan. 13, 2014 at St. Mary Parish 401 North St. Chardon, OH 44024. Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp. VISITATION: 10:30am until the time of the mass on Monday at the church. My Aunt Tillie was our California family’s bond to our larger family in Ohio. She showed our five children, her grand nieces and nephews: Elke, Vince, Matt, Sabine and Bettina, that they were part of a much larger family and that they were important, and that they were loved. When they were young she would travel to California, often with her sister ‘Al’, my Mother, to their First Communions and when they married, to their weddings. Who does that? Travel 3,000 miles to be present at the most important events in young person’s life. Our Aunt Tillie did. We love you Aunt Tillie.
