Age 77 of Newbury, Mary passed away surrounded by family on January 16, 2020 at Holly Hill. Mary was born April 14, 1942 to Harold and Martha (nee: Reublin) Schlecht in Ashtabula, OH. She graduated in 1960 from Edgewood High School. Mary continued her education at Kent State University, receiving two bachelor’s degrees. As a resident of Ashtabula and Geauga Counties, her career continued as a teacher throughout Geauga County. Mary’s passions included her community, her church, nature and conservation. She was a member of many community organizations including the NUCC, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Kent State Alumni Association and the Geauga Historical Society.

Survivors include her husband, David A. Buckey, daughter, Holly Buckey, sisters: Jane (Tom) Holden of West Palm Beach, FL, Judy Pallutch of Ashtabula and Linda Lemponen of Austinburg, two nieces and two nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A service will be held at the Newbury United Community Church on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 11:00 AM. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
