Martin Patrick McInnerney
Age 87 of Burton, OH, (Formerly of Madison Village) died on Thursday Sep 29, 2022 at The Pines At Brooks House in Hiram, OH. He was born in Geneva, OH, on Jan. 9, 1935 to Martin and Catherine (Collingwood) McInnerney. Martin attended Cathedral Latin High School and Geneva High School, Class of 1952. He married Helen (Hummel) McInnerney at Immaculate Conception Church in Madison, on August 18, 1961. They lived in Madison for most of their lives, and moved to Burton about 18 years ago.
Martin worked a variety of noteworthy jobs in his life. He worked as a firefighter at the Madison Village Fire Department, where he later became the Fire Chief. He also worked as a Union Electrician for many years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church while living in Madison, and later was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Newbury, OH. One of his favorite activities was fishing on Lake Erie. In his later years he developed an interest in art, and he spent a lot of his time painting and drawing.
His memory lives on through his sons, Martin T. McInnerney of Atlanta, GA, Thomas A. (Beth) McInnerney of Pickerington, OH, Kevin A. (Luann) McInnerney of Charlotte, NC, and Greg A. McInnerney of Bainbridge, OH, and daughter Mary A. McInnerney of San Diego, CA. His sister Catherine (McInnerney) Gress. And his grandchildren Andrew, Scott, Brian, Megan, Julia, Brendan, Olivia, Sidney, Nathan, Casey, Amy, Willow, and London. Martin was preceded in death by his wife Helen (Hummel) McInnerney, son Michael McInnerney, parents Martin and Catherine (Collingwood) McInnerney, brother John McInnerney, and sister Mary (McInnerney) Getch.
Calling Hours will be held Monday, October 3 from 5pm-7pm at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, October 4 at 10am at St. Helen Catholic Church, 12060 Kinsman Rd., Newbury, OH. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park in the Village of Madison.
